My Little Pony Party!!

May is one of my favorite months because I get to plan parties for kids I love with my sister and my crafty partner-in-crime, Melinda. Last weekend was my niece's 4th birthday, 4!…I may cry. My sister and I spent the last couple of months planning a My Little Pony party for her and it was so much fun.

My sister had her heart set on a rainbow party this year but at 4 years old my niece has her own ideas now, so a My Little Pony party is what we ended up with. I loved it! Warning: this post is all about pictures. I hope you enjoy them 🙂

I think my favorite thing was the cakes. They turned out so perfect and were a huge hit. We used the petal frosting technique, alternating between the rainbow colors. On top of the cake we used the White Cloud Icing from Bless this Mess to give the look of a big cloud. The ponies are toys. The banner was made with striped straws, twine, glitter scrapbook paper and letter stickers. The cake didn't only look good! My sister and her friend (the other birthday girl's mom) made strawberry cake with real strawberries. It was delicious!

The cupcakes were rainbow inside and the pony toppers were just miniature My Little Pony toys . The cupcake toppers were made by layering cupcake topper cut-outs from K&S Printables on solid and polka dot scrapbook paper. Tip: Want really white buttercream frosting? Use white food gel…it really makes a difference!

We filled the food tables with all sorts of yummy rainbows. Those balls in the bottom right hand corner are brownie bites dipped in chocolate melts. Delicious! All of the food had matching food labels also made by K&S Printables.

OK, I lied before, THESE may be my favorite project we did for the party. Each of the ponies are about 5 inches tall. They are double-sided with a toothpick in the middle. The fences were something we found at Target this Easter. We painted them white, put some styrofoam in the bottom, covered it with green Easter grass. Then all we had to do was stick the pony on it's toothpick into the styrofoam and ta-da! Adorable centerpieces.

As an activity for the kids we made a Cutie Mark booth. For those of you who might not be My Little Pony experts, a cutie mark is the little symbol on each pony. We offered face-painting for the kids who wanted their own cutie mark :). The fence is made out of balsa wood my sister found at Michaels. It was the perfect height and she just used a box cutter to trim off the top edges to make it look like a fence, painted everything white and glued it together. She made the banner out of twine and scrapbook paper. I thought it turned out amazing.

Last but not least were the favors. Chocolate-covered Oreos dipped in rainbow sprinkles. Cute and tasty. We used a wooden crate with a piece of styrofoam glued to the bottom to display the favors. All we did was cover the foam with some Easter grass and stuck the pops into it. Perfect!

It was a beautiful day and the kids had so much fun…I'm not sure you could ask for a more successful party :).
