For Christmas I got a little excited and bought my 9 month old son, at the time a Fisher Price, Rock N Roll Trike. Now that he is 15 months old, I've decided that he is old enough to enjoy the benefits that the three stage trike has to offer. Here are my thoughts on the assembly of the product, the convenience of moving the trike from one stage to the next and how the product worked overall.

Assembly of The Product

In the past year I would consider myself to be a self-proclaimed master of putting together intricate baby toys. It seems like just about everything you buy for young children, are packaged in such a way that it almost always guarantees some kind of assembly.

The Fisher Price Rock, Roll n Ride was one of the easiest toys to assemble. It took about an hour to gather all the tools needed, count all the parts and to assemble the toy. I found the instructions to be very easy to follow and that the pieces fit together perfectly. The parts that were supposed to be flush were, and the pieces felt secure after they were in place.

Moving the Trike From Stage to Stage

After I got the trike together I put my son (15 months old) on the trike in the stage 1 position. He had a bouncing Radio Flyer before this so when I told him to "boucey" he rocked back and forth. I think he enjoys this toy very much so far. My son isn't a 100% walking yet so, when he would try to straddle the toy it would slide and he would loose his balance a bit.

The box does state that the toy is for children 18 months plus and under 50 pounds. So be very careful if you have a child like me who is younger than the recommended play age.

After he was done rocking in it I decided to switch to stage 2 which is the "Roll" position. I really liked the long handle. I am five foot ten inches tall and the handle was actually a bit higher than I needed. So for all the tall parents out there when you read the package and it says "extra long handle" they are not lying! I found that the foot rest wasn't very big and maybe could have been 2 to 3 inches longer on both sides. Other than that stage two went very well.

The transition from stage 1 to stage 2 was extremely easy. One long plastic pin is all it took to secure the bike from stage to stage which I found very convenient. We didn't move the trike into stage 3 because my son isn't ready for that yet. Stage 3 would come a little farther down the road for us, however to move the trike into stage 3 you would have to break out the old screw driver and remove the handle. This is something that shouldn't take any more than 2 or 3 minutes to do.

Overall Function of The Fisher Price Rock, Roll n Ride Trike

I really enjoyed this product. I cannot wait for my son to get a little bit older so we can use it in place of his stroller.

I think both stage 1 and 2 were easy to convert back and forth to which earned major brownie points from me. When you are buying toys for your children it's important that what you buy is a good fit for your child but also you as a parent.

I would consider the Fisher Price Rock Roll n Ride a nice addition to your child's toy collection if you are in the market for a convenient toy that grows with your child.
